Your Professional Teeth Whitening Options

Professional Teeth Whitening
Want to have whiter teeth? There are a number of options you can consider. You can go with one of those at-home teeth whitening products or a Professional Teeth Whitening treatment.

You've probably seen those TV and online ads for at-home teeth whitening products. One thing that these products have in common is they all promise to make your teeth whiter. The thing is, you can't really expect to see immediate results from these products because they typically contain low concentrations of bleaching agents. What's more, they tend to have mild abrasives or acids that could damage your gum if you don't use these products as directed.

On the other hand, your dentist can perform professional teeth whitening. If you choose this route, you should know that you're likely going to have to undergo a series of these treatments, which could mean higher costs.

It takes about three sessions of professional teeth whitening treatments before you'll achieve the results you want, although you'll actually notice a difference in the color of your teeth after the first session. If you want to achieve maximum teeth whiteness, you'll have to go back for one or two more sessions.

The first time you see your dentist for a teeth whitening treatment, your dentist will first clean your teeth and do a custom fitting of whitening trays. Your dentist will have you bring the trays home with you. He or she will provide you with instructions on how to use the trays and bleaching gels. You'll come back several weeks later so your dentist can see how well the treatment is going. This is when the dentist will determine if you need additional teeth whitening sessions.

Laser teeth whitening is one option to consider if you're after fast, nearly instantaneous results. This professional teeth whitening procedure uses laser in order to activate a bleaching agent in the gel used. If you have sensitive teeth, this method is ideal. The downside is that it can be expensive, with a session costing as much as $1,000.
